3 - THREADING TUBES

Teams compete to thread items onto a piece of rope the quickest.

Equipment:

  • Cardboard tubes, typically might be kitchen foil sized tubes cut down in size or other, painted in bright colours. Ends of tubes taped so that there are no rough edges.

  • Suitable ropes with a tied knot at the bottom so the tubes don’t fall off!

  • Trays or similar to keep the tubes in place during the game.

How to play:

Each team will need to be supervised by a competent adult / youth leader.

Team leaders line up their teams behind their marker and number each member of the team (If one of the teams is down on a player compared with others, someone will need two numbers so that they can go twice to cover the shortage of a player).
To start the game the person running it calls out a number upon which the team player of that number leaves the team, goes to the tubes and starts threading. Number called should be random and not consecutive. The random call adds to the fun and keeps the teams on their toes, as the players await the call of their number.
First person to thread all tubes and hold them up on their rope wins the point. The players return to their place in the team line and another number is called. The game continues until all the team members have had a go.
